Did Mingo go through a huge growth spurt as a sophomore? Did he move to town or transfer from somewhere else? I'm just curious why he seemed to pop up our of nowhere onto the coaches radar and play his first football as a high school junior.

Because he's fast as frick. Coaches are always trying to get athletes to play multiple sports. They finally got him to the field and it paid off for all involved.
