People always tell me I'm wrong but I think he can be a Troy Polamalu type safety in the NFL. His ball skills are uncanny, he is tough as nails and is a natural on field leader (off the field not so much).

His biggest weakness is one on one coverage especially against slot WR's which as a Safety he would not be asked to do as much of

Except Polamalu played 4 years of college football and didn't have a history of drug abuse and criminal offenses....no offense to Tyrann but any NFL team that doesn't weigh his off the field issues as a factor is not looking at things right. Too many idiots in the NFL with guns and killing people driving while drunk.

he is a lot closer to an Ed Reed type than Polamalu.

I truly believe Tyrann's best position is going to be at Safety.

Hell, bob sanders was small and was pretty damn effective at safety before injuries got to him.

I know everybody likes to think about Tyrann's position being the nickel, but guys like Welker will eat him alive if he's asked to cover the slot.

That, and I think Tyrann's cover skills are vastly UNDERRATED. I know bama beat him on 1/9, but those throws and catches were fricking perfect and on the money. It's not like Tyrann was completely torched or pulled a Jason David out there.

He's going to succeed either at safety or as a tampa cover 2 corner.

No way Mathieu even comes close to Polamalu. He is not similar. Polamalu has 25 lbs on TM. Troy hits like a linebacker and can run like a safety. Mathieu is a special teams player and back up corner in the NFL. Polamalu is a pro-bowler.
