My main memories of the early Dome days:
SSI was a huge cluster F...much like Sherman Copelin.
Often times, the main entertainment in Saints games was watching paper airplanes sailing from all corners of the stadium.
If I had a couple of dollars for every time that the scoreboard malfunctioned, I could have retired long ago.
Early concerts in the Dome had some great lineups but the sound was often horrific.
For all of the criticism that I've given Tom Benson over the years, even on his worst days, he was a huge step up from John Mecom. As the article shows, Mecom's choice for an exectutive vice president was Dick Gordon. His vast football experience? Being a former Apollo astronaut.
Given all of this, if the worst thing that we can say for the Dome nearly 40 years later is a power outage during the SB, it's come a long way, indeed.
