Buying a used boat can come with some issues too though. Outboards are tricky creatures...particularly those exposed to saltwater. I wouldn't buy a used boat without having a good boat mechanic that you trust looking it over really well.

That's true. But you save a whole lot of money and there is plenty of guys around here that will do a pre-purchase check for him. Just find one with low hours and should be good. The blazer bay I sold a few years ago only had 50 hrs on it. They are plenty of used low hour boats out there that people have to sell due to babies, jobs, moving, etc.
