I agree with the advice given. These guys seem to know their stuff. You need to figure out what your uses are. If you want to ride like a Cadillac a ranger or bay bolt may be the best as they are HEAVY. However they also draft quite a but deeper. I have a 22' pathfinder and I'm convinced I could follow aluminum skiffs into the marsh. Whole shot in about 8 feet but it doenst ride nearly as good in the open water.

That's a good price range that could get you in a lot of boats. Don't rush into it as all the boats mentioned are good suggestions. As somebody said buy used, will get a lot more for your money. Good luck.
