I'll admit I wasn't a huge fan of Buffy, although I agree it is very well done. What I've seen of Dollhouse is intriguing, but I'm not sure he had enough time and space to do it right - I will sit down and watch it, though.
But Firefly and Freaks and Geeks are 2 of the best shows ever, and both cancelled after 1 season.

DON'T DO IT!!!!!
Dollhouse was Whedon gone bad, he started the show off with exactly 1 thing in mind.. and it was absolutely awful when it finally happened, don't waste your time. (and I own both season on dvd..)
