Sound like a fan who said Meyer would fail in SEC, or Petrino would... A good coach can win no matter the conference and Sumlin is a good coach.
Yeah Petrino had all kinds of success in the SEC.
Go read my posts you illiterate gump hick - I literally said my opinion could change in a couple of seasons if keeps winning. Now drop back on your knees and put Saban's cock back in your mouth.

If you would have told a Baltimore fan five years ago that over the next five years with Cam Cameron as their offensive coordinator for all but seven games that they were going to win a Super Bowl, that then-rookie Joe Flacco was going to be the Super Bowl MVP, that another rookie running back would have two 2,000-yard seasons from scrimmage, that they would go to the playoffs five times, that they would go to three AFC championship games, and that they would go 53-24 with Cameron as their offensive coordinator and that they would still be upset they'd look at you like you were absolutely insane.

Wait Petrino didn't have success?
34-17 isn't considered successful now?
Especially at Arkansas of all places....
You sound really butt hurt here, why is that?

Give the man a chance. Anybody is better than what we have now. Anybody! I'd rather loose with dignity than loose by embarassment.

Yeah, I'm an idiot because I don't recognize your tiger droppings handle as being an LSU fan. Maybe one day I will be as popular as you are, so that everyone knows my allegiance by my virtual TigerDroppings name. You are an illiterate douchebag, but its cool. We will pardon you as well.

How many Championships did he win?
How many SEC Championships did he win?
How many times did he even play in the SEC Championship game?
Is the answer not 0 to every single one of those questions?
His record in the SEC was 17-15. That is a very marginal record.
You make such a compelling argument.

Speaking of special ed students, great thread.

quote:Not trying to get into a pissing match, but BP did have success in the sec. With another year or two he very well would have been in the seccg. He took over a very poor Arkansas team and went 5-7 his first year there. Second year went 8-5. Third was 10-3. Fourth and last was 11-2, 6-2 the last two in the sec west. No one has to tell you that the sec west is the toughest division in college football. That is success in my book and i am by far a BP fan.

So he was successful because he MIGHT have made it to the Championship game in a year or two? He started to steer the program in the right direction, but again conference record was 17-15. 2 games over .500. That isn't exactly lighting the world on fire.

He came in and beat both LSU and Auburn in the first year. The guy is a offensive genius. Nick Saban went 39-13 in his first four years at LSU. BP went 34-17 in four wit6h Arky. Big talent difference between the two is my point. With the talent that BP had to work with , Yes i would venture to say he had great success. Its a damn good thing Arky had no defense over them four years.

That doesn't mean anything.

Yes, he has a great offensive mind. I agree.

My point is that at some point I would think you have to determine success based on championships. He never even played for an SEC Championship, let alone a National Championship. Sure he had Arkansas going in the right direction, but ultimately he never even won his own division. If he hadn't screwed the pooch (or his secretary) we MIGHT be having a totally different discussion, but we will never know.
My only point like 30 minutes ago, which several other posters seemed to agree with, is that I'm not going to call Kevin Sumlin at A&M the second best hire the country or even in the SEC since 2007. I'm not saying the guy sucks as a coach and won't ever win. I am saying that one successful season where he is at in the SEC does not make the second greatest hire. The douche I was arguing with tried pointing out his great record at UH which has absolutely nothing to do with his record at A&M. Sure, he has been a good coach in his career, but lets see him win a little more and maybe knock someone off the top of mountain before we say they were the second best hire in the nation or conference or whatever.
Posted on 2/13/13 at 11:03 am to HeadCoach
The only thing the hire did was make the positigers look stupid for defending Les and his handling the offense. They swore up and down there was no problem with the offense.

Who ever said that?
More like all the retards that swore up and down that Miles was stubborn and would never change anything and wouldn't hire an OC. Good call though.
