samson, i went to public schools my whole life and i think it's bullshite. like i said, it devalues the trophy. typical bullshite of today's world where everyone tries to make everything "fair"

By that logic, it devalues the trophy by having different size classifications. There's absolutely nothing wrong with leveling the playing field. You can argue that this wasn't the right way to do it, but the privates, and specifically three or four privates, were playing by a different set of rules that made the efforts of all the other schools irrelevant.

All the planets converge, you get once in a lifetime talent and make a run at the playoffs? Doesn't matter, because there are a couple of schools in your classification that are on a different plane. Play an absolute perfect game and you may stay within three touchdowns, because they're playing with a different deck. It ain't being a pussy to think that system stinks.

I think this mentality will fade over time

This change is something that should have happened decades ago. It's not much more different than creating classifications based on school enrollment.

People who oppose change are always going to go a little crazy for a while.

Who cares! It's high school sports. It's not winning the Nobel Peace Prize for finding a cure to cancer.

Private schools can control their enrollment. Therefore, they control their classification. Public schools do not have this option.
