Bc you are given them an interest free loan. IE you are losing money. The time value of money is a powerful thing and you are on the losing end here.

No I'm not. I keep all my money in a checking account anyways. No interest unless I have savings account.

geez, I guess some people are just so bad with money, they'd rather the government hold it for them.

I meant that the $5000 extra you're sending to the government could be yours to use on a monthly basis. money now is always greater than money later. but hey if you like to give out interest free loans, more power to ya.

Anyways, I'm going to talk to our accountant at work to have him reduce the % of fed taxes being deducted each pay to keep more of my money in my pay each period cause I need money.

This is correctish, assuming that the OP didn't include SS and medicare tax in the $10,000 total.
