He can recruit and is a father figure, that is about as far as it goes for him. If he does not find the offensive equivalent of John Chavis LSU is going to slide into mediocrity. I don't care how many 4 or 5 stars you have you can't win championships on talent alone.
That's pretty much my opinion of Miles and the opinion of ALL of my friends. (Most of whom are either LSU grads or former teammates) He's a great recruiter and has assembled a staff full of good recruiters. Outside of Chavis, maybe Haley and Wilson though, this staff doesn't appear to be a real good technical teaching/coaching staff OVERALL. Many weak links on that staff. We're winning a lot of those games because of defense and an overall talent advantage, not because of any superior game preparation and management.

If you were starting a staff from scratch and had carte blanche to pick anybody from the LSU staff, who would you go with? I'd definately take Chavis, possibly Haley and maybe take a look at Wilson for running backs. I'd give Ensminger a courtesy call to possibly coach QB's, but NOT TE's. That's it. Nobody else on that staff even gets a look see. We need superior teaching coaches at Offensive Coordinator, Offensive Line, Tight End, Wide Receiver and Defensive Back. We don't have that currently. We just have highly recruited talent doing the best they can with mediocre position coaching. (Outside of Chavis, Haley and Wilson)
