Any Experience Duck Hunting at Big Branch WMA in Lacombe?

Maybe I suck at searching but I did not find anything on Big Branch when doing so...
Short Story:
1.) First year duck hunting
2.) Been to Big Branch 6 times... zero ducks to claim
3.) I will see some (two or three teal) every 45 minutes but that is it
4.) I hear shots going off (sounds like cannons) towards the trees and further east so there must be ducks somewhere
Long Story:
So this is my first season duck hunting. I am very excited about it and enjoy being apart of what Louisiana has to offer. I go with my buddy who is also going for his first season but is just as pumped up. We have done a lot of research and try our best to apply what we read to what we do in the marsh. Unfortunately, between the two of us, we have one teal to claim so far. We will see something every 45 minutes or so but when we do, it is as if the ducks are in their GPS Mode and nothing is stopping them from flying on about their way. We are not doing anything crazy... we have some decoys set up, not making many calls if any, very well hidden, etc... We have tried different ponds that are within reach of Lake Road, so far. Pretty much been limited to that area due to a little tiger being born recently.
I guess my question to those that have been out there... Are we just in the wrong spot? Are the ducks just not staying around here?
I am very appreciative of the privilege to go out and enjoy what we have around us. I look at it as getting a duck is just a plus. But for selfish reasons, I would like to not make it 0 for 7 the next time I go.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading.

The ducks are there, well first split at least. It tough, some days its hot others its dead. Very tough hunting, the marsh is a bitch. You can have some good hunts, keep on trucking, prob give it a rest though, haven't been many ducks since 2nd split opened up.
