What happened in the United game?
Meanwhile no controversy in Norwich on a beautiful hit from Mata.

Ref's getting card happy.

According to foxsoccer.com, Everton just had 7 corners in 3 minutes. Sure could use Fellaini and his wonderful fro

Cisse was offsides when a teammate took a shot. Evans deflected the ball in for an own goal, but the side official had ruled Cisse off. The ref and side official talk for over a minute and then award the goal. Depending on your interpretation of offsides, it could have gone either way. Macca and Ian both thought it should have counted. Then ref cards Evans (handball and obvious yellow) and the Mexican (pretty soft yellow) in about a two minute span. frick Man U.

Yeah, that was a OG.

Clear OG on the replay. Cisse and Evans had visible space between them from that reverse angle.

It wasn't a clear cut anything... That's for sure.

Yup. Cisse was off, but he wasn't near the play at all.
According to how I think the offside rule works, Cisse had to be in the mix on the goal for him to get called offside.

Evans was forced to make an awkward play on the ball because of Cisse's position. Evans cut in front of him when the ball was played.

The question is, did Cisse influence the play while offsides? Was he screening De Gea? If Evans was chasing an offsides player, is that influence on the play? He clearly didn't touch it, but I've seen that stuff called before. Everything happened so fast so I'd say he didn't influence, but that's just my opinion, man. Well, mine, the ref's, Ian's and Macca's.

When it happened, I thought it was the right call. After seeing the replay, I still think it was the right call.
It's a tough call and it sucks how it went against United, but that's just the breaks.
ETA: Bho- I don't think he "made" Evans score there or froze up De Gea. I didn't see a clear-cut influence on that play.

It was certainly a clear cut own goal. Whether or not Cisse's offside action should have been allowed or not I don't know.

Sir Ian desperately wants SAF to get in trouble. He's not hiding it.

I'm not against the call, it def could have gone either way. But to say Ba wasn't near the play is just stupidness you are trying to appeal to other posters on the board again.

Can we start the 2nd half now, Alex?

He was two yards away from Evans. He didn't influence the goal IMO. That's an own goal. He wasn't involved in Evans scoring there.
That was my opinion as soon as the play happened. Don't get me this pandering crap. If my opinion just so happens to match the opinion of the non-United fans, that's just the way it is. I'm giving my opinion.
ETA: And if you think I just cater to the other posters, you definitely must have forgotten the Chelsea match.
