I pull pins out of the old cables and chips that are attached to the boards, sell whatever working parts I can if they're somewhat modern...

Eventually, I take it in to a recycling center as a bag of pins. They're only plated with gold but pulling all of the shite will save you room as you can just trash the rest. It's not a huge amount of money, but what the hell else are you going to do with all of those old computers?

power cords and other cables. keep them and turn in once you get a bunch saved up.

Your work sounds fairly comprehensive. How do you come across these old computers? Do you advertise on sites such as craigslist for old components?
