I was not aware of this fact:

LSU's military history began more than 150 years ago when the university opened under Superintendent William Tecumseh Sherman and was never more evident than during World War II, when it boasted more officers on active duty than any other institution in the nation other than the military academies.

Bolded for emphasis.

Pineville, always #1 location for the LSU faithful.

Emphasis on that last word. Considering LC resides partly on the old LSU campus. Holy Hill ftw.

I thought the original LSU site was closer to Lake Buloh than to LC?

Can we have more facts?

IIRC LC has a plaque on the campus regarding the original LSU site.

i have not seen the placqe on the l.c. campus.(?)
i have seen the old LSU site across the street from the v.a. hospital. it is a nice little park w/ original foundation of the building.
hwy 71 (shreveport hwy) at intersection of maryhill road.

Original LSU is across from va on hwy 71 in pineville. Sherman actually burned it during the civil war because he was a northern general. It was then moved to baton rouge after baton rouge was named the state capitol. Before the civil war Alexandria/pineville were well on their way to becoming the state capitol. Both were burned during civil war

OK, I stand corrected. Someone linked a picture of the plaque on here a while back. Maybe I misremembered it.
