Most people, especially in today's climate, use the AR platform for a home defense weapon. In my opinion I want quality components that are put through their paces.

And you can also find aluminum lowers for comparable prices to polymer with a little patience.

Buy once, cry once.

What are the pros to polymer in your opinion?

An AR for home defense? Silly.

90% of people who own AR 15s use them for plinking. I dont know a soul who would use one for home defense.

Pros: CHEAP and available.

If someone is breaking into my home I am grabbing whatever is closest. Why wouldn't you want the weapon with the 30 rounds of ammunition compared to 17+1 rnds in a glock 17. Also why not have the weapon with 3 points of contact compared to one point in the handgun. Now if I have a adequately set up shotgun ready that may be a better choice but the handgun would be last no matter the circumstance, and at most a secondary weapon.
