no way they wear those Larry bird-like shorts.
The shorts aren't quite as short these days.
A large portion of the Georgia State University team is black.
Morehouse College has a team now.
There are tons of black kids playing in Atlanta area high schools, and my club just opened its new facilities off of Cascade Road in Atlanta. One of the things that we're going to do is expand youth rugby to the South Side of town, because most of the high school rugby is in the northern suburbs.
We've seen a growth in inner city high school rugby around the country. New York RFC has had a very successful program over the last few years, and they recently had one of their kids participate in the Natal Sharks youth program. Their program is being hailed as one of the best practices to apply to growing the sport here.
So don't sleep on rugby here. If NBC presents it right...

That was a joke, but i get your point.

Due to the similarity, I definitely underestimated rugby and should've listed it. As others have said though, the biggest roadblock is the rules and the understanding of the general public to those rules.
You see most people in the US never played rugby and thus have no clue of the rules. That's why i think it takes longer than 20-25 years because most HS don't even have a team. Whenever HS starts carrying it, that's when you will see it rise because more of the population will understand it.
