that '67 team was really a hard luck team. Placekicking did them end. Missed a fg at the end of that Tennessee game that would have tied it. Missed one that would have beaten Miami, missed an extra point and fgs vs Alabama in a 7-6 loss and missed an extra point in a 13-13 tie vs Ole Miss.
It's hard to remember that we could go 6-3-1 and get a Sugar Bowl invitation. The Tigers handled an unbeaten Wyoming team, which if I remember correctly featured Jim Kiick in the backfield.
Although the younger fans may not understand it, until the Saban-Miles era, Tennessee (when we played them) was as much of a nemesis to LSU as Alabama had been. The '59 team lost to Tenn the week after Billy Cannon's Halloween night run and we found a way to lose to them almost every time we played. The '72 team that beat Ole Miss with Jones to Davis as time expired turned around and lost to Tennessee in the Bluebonnet Bowl. That's made the big wins over them in recent years, including the two SECCG wins and the OT win the week after the UAB loss, particularly satisfying for those of us who remember all those losses.

Exactly this.
Which is why I have no desire to watch an LSU loss to Tennessee - from any year. I have had my fill of them.
