The part that would've scared me the most would've been the second, bigger one running out of the woods after the smaller one.

So I'm fairly certain that the bigger bear is what charges the tree in the first place, and it's actually 2 bears (1 climbs the tree to escape the bigger, charging bear). If that's the case then the first bear gives no shits about the hunters, only about the 2nd bear. What those 2 guys would do about the other bear I have no idea though...
