A unit is what you're willing to bet. For basketball games, my unit is $1.25 
For others it might be 1000

It's whatever your standard dollar amount for betting one game. So if you normally bet $20 a game, your unit would be $20 bucks.
So say you bet Duke for 1 unit (20 bucks) and Maryland 2 units (40 bucks).
