Moral victory? Not really. this was a victory for the LSU program, not on the board but Mett as gary danielson say. The light have just turn on for him. Our defense play out of it mind until the last 2 mintues with the stupid defense. The offense..

the thing that has been plaguing us all season , we have one not only did we have one we destroyed with it. We have a main back now too. Soo many good things to take away form that game, soo many.

I hate the fact that we lost but it is what it is and nothing we can do can change it but I feel confident for once in the LSU team again. I believe the Tigers last night, after 11 months took back the Pride of Louisiana State University and gave warning to every one else in the nation that we are here to stay and you better watch out.

Deep down inside every fan knows that there isn't a game that has the importance of the next Alabama vs LSU game a year from now. It's how we measure ourselves these days. Sad, but true.

Everything else is prelim, or anticlimactic. Even more sad, most of us are relieved with a decent showing vs Bama.

I think the online message boards tend to exaggerate the negative and positive points - a performance is either Heisman worthy or Sunbelt, nothing in between. Of course the offense being disjointed added fuel to the fire.

A lot of the fans enjoy the game regardless of the final outcome. The score merely provides fodder for smug one-up-man ship with a rival fan.

The only thing I would disagree is that it was not just a "decent showing" it was a really good game - someone has to win and someone has to lose.

Really looking forward to the tail end of the season whilst bemoaning that it is already the tail end of the season

Well, seeing as how that team have won two back to back Champion ship by completely destroying their opponents and a lock to be on target for the third. Everyone in the nation is trying to see if they are as good as Alabama.

Had we not laid that egg in Jan, EVERYONE would be talking about measuring themselves to LSU.

WTF!! There is a reason why folks still talk about the 90s huskers. It is bloody difficult to catch lightning in a bottle and win titles within the span of a few years.

Bama got the lucky break last year when they got in despite not winning the SEC and the rest of College football not having a single team without a loss.

They are an excellent team and it is unfortunate that they are in the same division.

It has been more than 5 for Texas, USC, OSU, FSU and plenty of other teams with great recruits and the obviously great coaches that are coveted by the rant.

Why then have they not won ? Because it is bloody difficult and luck has not been on their side to aid them because other teams happen to be strong at the very same time and there is a bit of luck involved in having no injuries, right schedule, enough players with experience, pollsters recognizing the worth , etc...

The logical thing would be to recognize this uphill task and therefore enjoy the games rather than live in misery by worrying only about the title.

were we 2-5 coming into this game? were we 7-5 last year? we are a top program. losing at home to anyone should not be parlayed into a "victory"

when Bama starts talking their shite in a couple of days, and their kind words disappear, minds will change. they have plenty of advantages to start with, as everyone bitches about on here.

And it drags out another year of being razzed...

Moral victory? I am still physically ill thinking about the game. LSU blew a chance at a second straight SEC championship and a real shot at a national title. We are a tick below Bama right now and this game could have pulled us even to them on the national stage. This was a missed oppurtunity of monumental proportions.

I agree with this. Those who are furious at anything less than undefeated national championship every year will be miserable old men some day. Even those among the greatest coaches to have ever lived only won so many. I think many of the people who are so mad are the ones who have talked so much smack that they were made to feel dumb when LSU didn't win and now they have to be mad at someone, so they are mad at CLM, when they should be mad at themselves for having their priorities and common sense all out of whack. Poor thangs.
