OK, now lets talk ammunition since it looks like you're going '06.

Gonna just go ahead and freak errrrbody out and say for whitetails... find 125gr. Nosler Ballistic Tips pushing 3200 fps. You will never regret it. And as long as you aren't the worst shot in the world, or one of downshifts friends, you won't ever lose a deer either. Plus the recoil is lighter and you can get much more accurate with it as a result of not being scared of the beat down. Now that doesn't mean go buy reduced recoil shite... noooooOOOoooo. You want the high velocity.
