Count myself in the generally positive corner. Read most of this, not all, but has anyone stated the obvious from last weekend. Mett wasn't pressured greatly for the most part, but how many dammed WFO receivers did he overthrow by 5 yds...what gives here??

Beat Bama!

I still like our chances for multiple reasons; TS at night, Bye week, bama is truly untested while lsu has played Florida and USCe. But, if lsu does lose then wins out; would you not be impressed with a 11-2 season considering the amount of season ending injuries (8 starters).

People here are on a Kool Aid diet and can not accept facts...
I hope we win, but I can promise you that for us to win, Mett must be able to pass with an AL 8-9 men front.

Saban will make Mett prove that he can pass before he lets off the gas for the rush...

same game plan as 1-9-12

you realize on the other side of the ball bama will struggle mightily right? fluker and the guards CANNOT handle speed rushers or elite rusher of any talent. LSU has the best d line in the country and LSU always shuts down the run.. so LSU shuts down the run and pins their ears back and gets after a gimpy AJ who's line can't handle speed.

Awesome dude, thanks so much for your insight!I almost went to your message boards to get your thoughts on this topic but you saved me the trip! Can I give you my home address so I can get your Alabama newsletter?

Sure. I'm eating nachos tonight with extra habaneros and three bean chili. Newsletter should be ready in a few hours. Send me your address.

I guess Miles should start running an offense more like West Virginia's

LSU needs an offense that will help to beat Alabama. That's it. Lately the offense has not been of much use in that department.

So, what say you - should I embark on a 2nd career as an FBI profiler?

You are giving my posts entirely too much thought. I thought the raison de etre of this board is to express an opinion, however off beat or controversial. I try to remain civil and welcome thoughtful posts.

As I have said before, I like CLM to the extent that is a meaningful statement. As I see it, how can one like or dislike someone he does not know. I know something of his performance as a coach and have acknowledged that he is very good. But the stakes here are not about the "overall record". They are all about beating Saban and Alabama. Any poster who does not understand that, I think, is missing something important.

You are correct, I am a fan of a "successful" school-LSU.

Like most LSU fans, I was upset more about how Saban left than his leaving. Now, I just relish every time LSU can whip him.

The responses of (too)many of the posters reflects poorly on them so far as I am concerned. I wonder if they speak to people in their daily lives and work in such a manner. If I met CLM, which is very unlikely, I would welcome the opportunity to ask him some questions about what it is like to be the LSU head coach and as he see it, what on earth is wrong with the passing game. I think LSU was a good QB away from NC in 2010 and 2011, and, I fear, 2012.

Nothing more sinister than that.

Of course everything is not on coaches when you look at and breakdown individual plays. However when it appears to be systemic how can you not blame the coaches. Example Gerry Dinardo. 1999 lost what 8 in a row, gets shite canned and the team blows out the SEC west champ. The next year nearly the same team goes to a bowl game and beats a top twenty team. Coaching in high school and college means everything. John Chavis comes here and in one year completely turns around the defense. Coaching.

True enough. But what I mean is more than just success in a generic sense. Alabama is LSU's western division bunk mate. That changes a lot. As it stands, they have to beat the gumps to have any chance at anything considered a success such as SEC crown or, dare I say it, NC!

Yes, but you started the conversation about it feeling like 1-9 and I happen to agree with you. I don't think you are being negative it is just the offense has not apparently progressed much if any from that point. I also feel like Miles is a good coach, but he has not shown a creativety needed to overcome Saban at his best or any other strong defense. To me there is a fine line between execution, scheme, and individual performance. They are all tied together in my mind we have seen better execution and some better individual play. Can Miles and company come up with something better than what we saw on 1-9. IDK.

What's so aggrivating about this is our talent level is equal to Bama but we have a horrible offensive system.

Even if we beat Bama we'll get more crap served up on offense the rest of the year.

But how much better can Mett get in our current offensive scheme?

Scheme is not the issue, it's execution. Nobody would be complaining about scheme if Mett could hit open receivers or said receivers could catch, or if Mett could pick up a blitz.

The scheme has been dialed back because the players aren't very good.

Hard to argue with that. Why can't CLM get a better QB?

I'm dreading it'll resemble Florida '09. Defense will do its job but how will the offense score on an elite defense?
