I am looking at a youth model Yildiz 20 gauge from Academy as a starter sporting clay/ duck gun for my ten year old. Does anyone have any success or horror stories with this brand?

Ive heard pretty good reports about their o/u. I was looking at a semi auto model and found a bunch of info on the o/u and most people had good things to say

I got the 12 ga yildiz from academy a few years ago. I use it for doves and woodcock, and have used it for ducks once or twice.

I have not had any problems with the gun at all. Probably have run two thousand shells through it.

You can get additional chokes made by Briley(sp?).

One suggestion, when you go to buy it, ask to look at ALL the units they have. Find the one with the best wood to metal fit. They are not the most refined gun by any means... but look them all over and you should find one that is acceptable.
