I'm an 80 overall scoring PG. I pulled a birdmahn and grabbed 10k VC for like 240MSP. It helped with the signature abilities which are insanely expensive.

97 rated scoring PG. I know what you're thinking. No I didn't buy VC. I just played the shite out of blacktop.
As far as building gaurds, shot medium, shot off dribble, and shoot in traffic should always be your first upgrades. That will give you the ability to score early and often in your career. Mid-range is money in this game and having a good shot off dribble and shoot in traffic will give you more freedom to create your shot with a bit of defense on you. Next is speed, quickness, and on-ball defense. A high on-ball defense rating actually speeds your player up on the defensive side of the ball. You aren't as sluggish reacting to any dribble moves the guy you're guarding does. After that it's pretty much personal preference. If you are playing a true PG, pass would be your next option. If you're playing a slashing PG like I am, you'd pour into ball handling, off-hand dribbling, and layups/dunks.
