Ok Thomas, explain to me why Rivers or Randall should start.
Be specific please.
Be specific please.

Same here. It's kinda weird so many LSU fans are so hesitant to criticize Mett. Everyone else is fair game, except Mett. Strange really.
He has some flaws, but some of you are being drama queens.
No QB would be all SEC behind LSUs offensive line and with their WR's. Of the problems with the offense, I would put him 4th.
He has issues, but nothing as dramatic as the OP's whine.

Not really. Idiots simply complain about things without a solution. Fire Les. Fire Stud. Get new WRs. Change the O-line. Guess what, champ, none of that can change at this point. So your only choice is to try something at the one position that you can change.

Spot on.

Who are you going to put back there?

It's real easy guy, because the leader of the offense is not getting it done, period. Contributing factors aside, he is not getting the job done.

Yea but they have/had phenomenal pocket pressence and field vision/awareness. They move effortless in the pocket - very subtle, but very key. Mett does not have this at all. Marino, Peyton, Brees, Brady, etc all drop back very quickly too. Mett seems to have an extremely slow dropback.quote:
This is killing us too.
Coaching problems. He did fine with the three step until the coaching staff decided we used up the quota or something.

Scoopandscore, glad to know that there are other objective, sane and reasonable fans. I was going to waste some more of my time trying to educate people that QB mobility is not just being an RGIII or Mike Vick. To the idiot that says Peyton is not mobile, how many times in his career was he sacked? How many picks has he thrown. Go look it up. Maybe while doing that you can figure out what playing QB is all about (hint: its not just arm strength).

So just make a change at QB just for the sake of change? Got it. Don't worry about the real issues (O line, no go to receiver). Got it. Just, um, change QBs. Then receivers will begin catching and the O line will suddenly block better. Got it. Solid plan.

Come on now.

With an offense this horrible, how can the QB be only 4th in order of responsiblity for it? Because of his weaknesses, we have to run the ball on 3rd and long. Or do stupid gimicky stuff when we get the ball first and goal at the 7. He is struggling BIG TIME right now. And what's even more troubling is that we don't have another QB we can turn to. We simply don't have a legit backup QB. That's as embarrassing as anything else wrong with this offense.

So trying new WRs is not an option?

His 3 step drop almost gave me heart failure a few times.
ETA: The only possible solution I see is to put him back there in the shot gun with 3 or 4 wides. And do a hurry up or quicker tempo offense. Force him to speed up a little bit.

He is fine, the staff just needs to work around his limitations, which is his offensive line, WR's and his pocket awareness. LSU hasn't had a QB in years who didnt fit the bill, and there isn't one on the roster who is going to do better.

Ok, cas4t, who do you suggest we play on the line? What WRs should play? Why can't we even run the ball?

This is what's so depressing as a Tiger fan. Why can't we find a good QB?

Manning was sacked 22 times and threw 28 interceptions in his rookie season. I know Mett isn't quite a rookie, but pretty damn close.

Dude, if you ain't got it by now there is no hope for you. It isn't the QB's. We have been complaining about them for years. It's the coaching staff.
No QB would be "successful" enough for LSU fans in this current offense

Our players aren't as good as we hype them up to be. Our RBs are decent but none of them look "special". Same with the WRs. None of our skill players are making any big plays on their own, with their own special talent. Makes you wonder if they have the ability.

Amen. FWIW, I was hoping that being down 8 @ FLA we would see this out of necessity. I agree this is probably the best option, but he seems to lock on so get ready for some picks.
On this point, you can fairly criticize the coaching philosophy because his limitations are exaggerated by the offensive philosophy of running game with a passing complement. But that's a philosophical difference, and it sure seemed to work for 14 games last year.

We do. We have found plenty of good QB's. The program is a QB killer.
We have lost quite a few good WR and QB prospects who previously committed. Wonder why
