I was/am confused by the ruling as well. No doubt OBJ fumbled before he was down. But in this case the ref on site was already signalling the end of the play before UF recovered; poor officiating.
So how long after a play has been blown dead are the players allowed to continue playing?

Down by contact call is not reviewable in the NFL, but apparently is in college.
