Honest review of Les Miles

I wanted to wait 24 hours to get some clarity, but I think I'm in a position now to say what I truthfully believe about him without any clouded judgment. Let me start off by saying the guy wins and he is a good representative of our university. He also recruits great talent to LSU. After that, he is not relatively good at anything.
He lets Chavis run the defense, which I commend him for, and tries to implement his philosophy and coaching on what he thinks he knows, the offense. He knows what it takes to win in the SEC. A strong running game, LOS, and a passing game that can manage drives. The problem is, I don't think he knows how to implement the correct play calls or schemes to achieve this effectively. He lacks a general intuition and expertise to what to call on offense.
He could be called an O-Line specialist but would you really say our O-Line plays that well on a consistent basis? Also, he has 0 lineman he has recruited in the NFL today. That's alarming.
He brings just enough to the table to win consistently with his recruiting, but other than that LSU wins off of Coach Chavis' efforts. The man does enough to win and thats fine, but one day he will need to concede that other people know more about offense than him. The last 5 years don't lie.

he's overrated by LSU fans

Stubborn, loyal to a fault, unaccountable, denialibility off the charts, injuries are a mystery, peculiar use of the english language, great overall record with failure at the biggest point of his career.

I honestly think he does not understand the gravity of the situation.
Before the game when he was asked about Mettenberger he responded: "He doesn't need to be Superman. All we need is for him to make the plays we call for him and we will be fine." After the game when he was asked about just how awful we are on offense he responded: "I don't know." He seems absolutely baffled as to why his offensive plan is not working...almost like he can't accept it.
I don't know if he will do what is necessary. That is, make a good quality OC hire and let that OC run his offense. Les is stubborn.
I think the players no longer believe in this offense and I can't blame them. This is just not fun anymore. Our offense is boring, predictable, unimaginative, and flat out ugly. We really don't need all these athletic freaks, all this speed and size to run this offense. We waste them anyway. We just need average guys like Georgia Tech or Virginia Tech play.
Watching our offense is like watching eye surgery. Its just not fun to watch anymore.

I wish our offense was as enjoyable as eye surgery.

From what I've been told, the players have "checked out". They don't believe in the coaches, and the coaches don't believe in them.

Or a root canal. At least they get Novocain.

I really have no problem at all with his philosophy. I think it's a winning one. You have to do the right things to implement the philosophy effectively. You can run the ball without being predictable. Look at Stanford under Harbaugh, I hate saying this but look at BAMA. Those teams do things that create complexities within the defense while keeping it simple on offense. It's also not just about calling a run or a pass on a certain down and distance. You have to have an intuition for play calling. We're not even talking about the lack of execution, which over this stretch of time should be attributed to the coaches.

I think that LSU fans' love affair with Les Miles is starting to come to an end.
I'm getting the same feeling that I got when Dinardo started his decline.

I like ole Lester but we need some help with the offense. Its been 3 years nnow since we had a decent o and its hard to watch. The Cheifs D keeps us in every game.We are going whole halfs of games without 1st downs.I watch high school teams with more complex offenses than we have. Then the other teams keep loading up the box and we keep trying to run. Please get some offense coaching help Les.

I love the "from what I've been told" stories.

LSU needs to lose several more games before I get this feeling.

Let me reiterate, I want Les as our head coach. I want him to hire an offensive coordinator with major credentials and actually let him run the show FROM SPRING THROUGH FALL.
eta. I know you might ask, then what does he do? Honestly, just recruit, be the face, organize practice, and collaborate but within the coordinators OWN SCHEME AND OWN PLAYBOOK. Sounds like nothing, but it is what it is.

Give it time.
Unless changes are made, by the end of October we may not even be ranked in the top 25.

What? Who is telling you this?

I guess you don't realize how stupid you come off saying that on a message board.

Where is the proof that Les over rules Stud's calls? Any proof or is this just patent speculation.
I'll agree our OC is actually an o-line coach and he needs to be on the field coaching the linemen and krags needs to be in the booth calling plays.
But please until there is proof that this is Les overruling or basically being coach and OC...shut yer yapper about it.

Les knows what to do to win a nc. I DON'T recall anyone complaining about les offense when russell or flynn were the qb. ITS ALL ABOUT THE QB WITH LES. he is still snakebitten by the jl pic 6 year. the qbs have not performed well and not been developed well. les has won with the style he is using. if we get quality qb play you will see a different type offense.
