they why specify the "infield"? Just call it the fly rule.....or is the "infielder" fly rule...as in if it's an infielder on a pop fly the rule can take effect.
Also, if it's "normal effort"...then why don't Infielder's take advantage of that and run around looking confused so that the ump won't call it?

You make the same point that analysts have made...this call was no one's fault. The rule, which dates back to the late 1800s, never has been amended and it is a very grey rule.
They need to amend the rule to make it more clear -more black and white so there's less confusion.
