Why hasn't Demps been extended yet?

Isn't he on his last year now? Seems like it would have/should have happened around the time Coach Monty received his extension. Should we be worried?

Not sure if there is an option on him or not.
Just guessing...
Price and terms are obvious things to say may be up in the air, but maybe job scope is, too. Did Loomis and Laushca's insertion effectively demote him? Is he happy with fewer responsibilites but not fewer dollars? Maybe he wants 5y they want 3y with options, or the other way if they can hold him below head of Basketball Operations.

The terms of his contract are unclear, but part of Monty's extension revealed the team had an option year on him so they may have an option year on Demps too meaning this might not be his last year.

I know some are worried about Loomis wanting to put his own guy in, but the NBA GM pool is so shallow that pretty much all of the recent hires have been from the San Antonio tree, so what would Loomis do, hire a lesser version of Demps? That's preposterous.
I think the Hornets got Monty cheap, money isn't his primary motivator so he probably didn't play hard ball with negotiations. Demps will be a hot commodity and I can't see him taking a deal he doesn't like, whether it's about money or autonomy he's probably pushing for as much as Benson will give and he may have to wait for the team he built to perform well to maximize his next deal. If this team stays healthy they may well be in the playoffs which could easily mean more years/money/power.
