The Season Begins Oct 6

The post is not intended as some sort of Rah Rah spiel. But as an old timer (Class of 1974) I think I might provide a little practical advice.
When I first saw the 2012 Tiger Football Schedule, I was concerned. It looked like a cupcake schedule Deloss Dodd would be proud of. Last year I not only bragged to my “Texas” friends that LSU was ranked as high as they were, I also pointed out the quality of opponents we had defeated. Our team had no luxury of having an off game or not being inspired. If so, they would have certainly had their arse kicked and kicked soundly. Obviously the last game showed a little of that lack of enthusiasm. I can only dream what the outcome would have been if we had played Okie State.
Let’s face it. UNT, Idaho, U Dub and Tau Sun State has not necessarily caused any anal puckering of late. Auby is obviously on a downhill run as well. It is hard to get too excited or inspired with the steady diet of cupcakes. Now, when we don’t roll up 60 plus points and allow the other team to actually score, we look lethargic and uninspired.
I guess some of you want to be like “West By Gawd” and score 70 points even if you give up 63 points to one of the worst teams in the Big 12 on your own field.
But hold that thought.
I agree the LSU or the State of Louisiana for that matter, has ever has been the “darling” of the media. Over the past several years our head coach has constantly been betrayed as a buffoon and a lucky undersized cap wearing grass eating incompetent all while his team has consistently posted championship winning numbers. That is something I personally believe will never change. I believe Coach Miles realized it a long time ago and he simply embraces the persona. Hell, I bet he is laughing all the way to the bank.
The real season begins this coming Saturday. Let’s see what happens. For me I continue to have faith in Coach Les Miles. Don’t worry if the Tigers have dropped again in the polls. If our Tigers defeat Florida, South Carolina, Texas A&M, Bama and State they would have defeated five teams in the Top 25 with at least three in the Top 10. If FSU, Oregon, and even Georgia win their next five games, they would pale in comparison to the Tigers. So we should at least move up to number 3 or maybe number 2.
So my fellow Tiger Fans, get your titties out of the twister and have faith our boys are about to “Nut Up”. In the event I am wrong, just remember you are still Tiger Fans and the future is always bright

I might quit my job, because there is no way I'll be able to work this week.

This. As another long-time (Class of '85) follower, I believe this team is stil finding its identity while sleepwalking through the first part of the schedule.
Could be wrong, but I believe the players will be very focused this week & will take care of business in the Swamp.

I agree, I just think the injuries, etc may be zapping the life out of this team. Best cornerback, best linebacker, best lineman, best running back, and best fullback. I know injuries are part of the game, but at some point they become too much especially at such key positions. As long as we only drop one of the next three the season will still come down to Nov 3 rd, which is what we wanted.
