I thought it was a good character development episode. Considering the two main characters are two severely messed up people, it is necessary to show both their highs and their lows.
I do believe it would have been more interesting for Jessica and Mike to have hooked up at the end of the episode and to have Brody sitting outside in the car until Mike left, but then you have to consider how stupid they would have been for putting themselves in the house and in a position to be caught by Brody or the kids. Somebody needs to throw the wife down and take care of her!
My problem is more with the unrealistic expectations that someone who is under consideration as a VP candidate can just disappear off the radar for a day without anyone knowing where he is or what he is doing.
I did like that Saul showed Carrie the video and that he knew enough to show her before the video made it back to the CIA since she would probably never see it otherwise.
My guess is that Jessica is going to start using her knowledge of Brody's faults against him. She set herself up as a strong female character with her speech and she will steal more of the political spotlight from him. Brody will realize that he cannot win the long-game without her help and loyalty, but he will have to put up with a lot of her demands and possibly her renewed infidelity to have her cooperation. Thus, we will see Brody going through conflict with the different desires of his wife and those of Abu Nazir.
The best friend Mike is a mystery. Why was he so interested when Jessica told him that Brody had slept with Carrie? It seemed to be an interest more than just an excuse for him to renew his fling with Jessica.
