Fiona Apple: Idler Wheel

Fiona Apple is a nutty musical genius, but a genius none-the-less. She is Brian Wilson-esque. I just bought her latest release "Idler Wheel". She is one of the few artists who is truly trying to be innovative and original. "Idler Wheel" has very melodic tunes with minimized structure, and an almost Tom Waits style arrangements/production with foot shuffles and mechanical machinery serving as percussion.
It's a great record. Check it out if you get a chance.

I gave it a listen on Spotify last week and really enjoyed it. She was one of my favorites for a while, but she kind of fell off the map the past 7 years or so.

Um, no. There was just a lot of back and forth about the release of Extraordinary Machine that caused a really long delay and removed her from the public eye. That said, it's a fantastic album. I haven't been able to listen to Idler Wheel yet, but every album she has made is pretty damn solid, so I expect more of the same.
I found out late that she played in New Orleans on Monday, but the tickets were $60 before they started tacking on fees, so no go.
