Perhaps my perspective is a little different... I was married at 24 and divorced at 27, and spent a few years in my late 20s as the "single guy." I even had the "married couple" and "single friend to get in trouble with" in my life.

None of Ted's waffling, does this new girl like me / does she not, falling in (and out of) love all over the place, disastrous dates, failed relationships and general douchebaggery surprise me in the least.

I was a walking disaster for a few years, and I've managed to straighten it out. Part of the allure of the show for me is seeing if the son of a bitch can ever right the ship.
