I was wondering if any of you have land near Monticello and how you like it. I live in Baton Rouge but may be hunting there this season.

My lease is a mile south of Monicello on the Pearl River. Last season was my first one there. I've got a little over 700 acres and have a total of 4 members. The other 3 just got in with me this season. I like the area for sure.
I didn't have as much luck last season per se. I did kill 5 deer, but spent most of my time learning the land while I was there instead of hunting. The place is eaten up with turkeys, but I wasn't able to turkey hunt this spring.

My uncle knew a guy in lawrence county who had alota farm land. We used to go every year on new yrs day hunting there..no scouting, no stands, just go. And we always killed deer. I got a 7point and a doe. My cousin got a few doe. And my uncle got two eights and a doe. We always saw deer, one nice 10 got away once. I always looked forward to going there every yr.. Lota deer in the area

We own timber land on the Pearl. There are a few clubs leasing it out and would like to meet up with them. BTW, one parcel is where the old historic cemetery is right on the Pearl.
