yeah, he is sort of self aware about it but doesn't care... when he went from late night on NBC to the 10:30 slot on CBS is started the process

where he used to tear into idiot celebrities he stopped doing that as much when he moved to CBS (you had to just cry out for it like Madonna for example)

And I think his political opinions are just his political opinions - I don't think he expresses them in a very sophisticated way though... ham-fisted is the typical approach
