I think Thelein Smith (LB) was the first black player, around 1971. I used to sit on the steps of the union and talk with him.

Who remembers Carl Otis Tremble?

Yep and

Thielen is a great guy, got to know him when he was on Bowdens staff

I wanted to be a kicker for LSU as a kid and my dad was taking me to a Shaq Basketball game, walking by Mike's cage a man approached us and it was Curley H. He shook my hand and I told him I wanted to be a kicker for LSU one day and he told me he would recruit me highlight of my youth

Still remember my first game I was 3 years old, 1987 vs Rice. I still have vague memories of this game!! I guess its one of those things no matter how old you are, you never forget...
