LSU athletic director Joe Alleva said shortly before 3 p.m. Thursday that barring “unforeseen circumstances,” the LSU-North Texas game will be played as scheduled at 6 p.m. Saturday in Tiger Stadium.

“Safety is our biggest concern,” Alleva said. “But we’ve talked to (Baton Rouge) city police, the sherriff’s department, state police, and we think we can get the support we need from them. So barring unforeseen circumstances we’re a go at 6 p.m.”

Alleva said an official announcement on the game was expected by the end of the business day Thursday.

Alleva said neither the campus nor Tiger Stadium suffered much damage from the effects of Hurricane Issac. The only visible damage to the exterior of the stadium was a torn banner on the exterior of the south scoreboard which lists LSU’s three national championship seasons.
