Ice, the Valyrian steel sword of house Stark was in Westeros long before Aegon conquered. One could reasonably conclude other noble houses had similar swords.
Yeah, hiding the priceless swords in plain sight unattached and loose in the iron throne makes perfect sense.

Yep. There was trade between the Free Cities of the East and Westeros long before Aegon showed up.

Yeah.
I'm sure the most guarded chair in the most guarded castle in the most guarded city in the realm is just a silly place to hide something valuable. Especially camouflaged as part of the throne.
