Man, it's little tid-bits like that that I must've glossed over that just make my day.

All hail the crackpot thread!

quote:

Egg allowed his children their heart's desire, because he himself had also wed for love. According to Ser Barristan Selmy, this led to resentment and treason amongst the lords, ultimately leading to the "tragedy of Summerhall."

Well, that makes sense, especially if Egg's father had made betrothals (verbals, at least, if not written) with major Houses that Egg allowed to be broken. I'd bet anything Walder Frey had a hand in it.
Sucks, though, cuz I had a theory it (Summerhall) was to do with dragon hatching...which would bring a new twist to Aegon V's nickname. Possible that both are true in the form of a sabotaged ritual...

Seriously, just havingn read the first two Dunk and Egg novellas I was looking for clues. I remember Aemon calling out to Egg in his delirium. For some reason I thought the shield that Brienne had was the same as Duncan's. I did completely forget about Dunk being one of the Kingsguard though.

I would like it if they just made Dunk and Egg a mini series or a tv movie. I've also heard the rumors of a series about Robert's rebellion. That would be wonderful. I do wonder how casual fans of the TV series would react to the show being gone for a couple of years if they decide to use those stories to buy GRRM some time. I know that's not uncommon for HBO shows.
