But y'all act like he's got some special, unique skills. There are coaches out there doing a whole lot with a lot less.

Kiffin feels more like a regular coach who is a great recruiter...a grinder who can recruit great athletes...and calls a pretty good game but he's not uber-special.
He doesn't have the special "whatever you want to call it" that Pete brought...this air about the team of invincibility and optimism and excitement.
No USC fan was terribly excited about getting Kiffin after having PC...and you know...going into any game...hey, we could lose...but so far, he's exceeded expectations.
But for most USC fans:
"In Lane we trust?" Not yet. The jury is still out and has a long deliberation. He could prove the doubters wrong...who knows? But I like what he's done so far.

Which USC fan here has implied that? Thats your hatred of all LFK tainting your perception. You have stated on a number of occasions that your "job" is to "bash" anyone and "put [them] in their place" when someone supports or posts anything remotely positive about LFK. You have stated you "will turn any thread into a LFK bashing thread that [you] want".
I will say for the record though that he and his staff are arguably the tops or top two in recruiting prowess.
