I was there - my senior year at LSU. Odell was a good player for LSU, but so was Kinchen. I think we were a lot better talent wise and much of our failure was on the coaches, just my opinion.
The decline of LSU football started the game before with a loss to Vanderbilt (or maybe the loss against Syracuse in the Hall of Fame Bowl at the end of the prior season?). Somehow we got our moxie back to beat A&M in this game. This night was fun, but it got ugly that season.
