I understand your ERA argument, but it is definitely not black and white. Playing on a better defensive team will cut down your ERA as guys chase down hits and throw out would-be runs. K's have to be in the discussion as well.

I do agree that W's and L's are fricking irrelevant.

See, maybe in the bullpen, but I don't measure how good a pitcher is by how many guys they can K.

THIS season who would you rather have?

Player 1:

ERA: 2.22
K: 95
IP: 129 2/3

Player 2:

ERA: 3.12
K: 154
IP: 121 1/3


So, you're telling me because player 2 has more strikeouts that you would rather have a pitcher that has given up almost 1 more run per 9 innings?
