re: Where did bond go wrong?

In my opinion Connery was by far the best and Moore was second for one simple reason...they brought humor and cockiness to the role. I realize Bond was a darker character in the books but Connery made Bond a movie star and that is the way I wish to see him played. Since Dalton took over the role I honestly cannot remember seeing anyone who has played bond since smiling even once. All of the new Bond's have been far too serious and have ruined the character in my opinion. I wan't to see a suave and cocky bond who smiles while smacking beautiful women on the arse and makes funny smart arse comments to would be killers.
