Anybody know any of these guys? Or anything about them? Or the Zandak label of Alexandria? Something tells me there is an interesting story here...
I dimly remember that a friend's brother and maybe (sister, cousin?) from Opelousas were part of the Popsicle. Last name Vincent. Haven't been closely in touch with my friend for a while since he moved to Alabama. That's all I got.
But on the topic of whatever this topic is or was-here's a neat track that made my collection of 45 rpm singles. The Leaves.

Larry and The Blue Notes - "Night of The Sadist" (1965, unreleased)
Classic of macabre rock from Fort Worth (the city that also gave us a few years later the even weirder "DOA" by Bloodrock). This version of the song was not released, as the band's manager feared the FCC and/or radio stations would ban it for using the word "sadist" in the title (remember, this was only a year after the infamous FBI investigation of "Louie Louie"). Another version was done called "Night Of The Phantom", and under this title was later covered by '80s bands The Fuzztones and The Chesterfield Kings.
