Hope everyone had a great weekend. I was wondering if anyone knows of an old cypress barn/house/structure that someone is willing to allow me to tear down for the wood. I will be building a new house in the fall of next year and looking to put a lot of old rough cut cypress in it. Lafayette area hopefully. Thanks

I have a friend who did this and he just started knocking on doors. Got a couple of barns. New house came out beautiful.

I know one. but there is 0 chance that the old guy would let you even look at his barn

Paging basin, theres an old house to be torn down on baton rouge craigslist. Search "cypress" on it.

Man you're just too late. I know of one almost completely torn down now and I'm 30 miles from you.

Friend on mine just used to ride down roads along small bayous and look for old abandoned looking houses - he was looking for cypress and soft red bricks...would find one then start knocking on the doors of houses close by to see who the owner might be.
Sometimes he would find someone tearing down a structure and offer to help them for a day in exchange for some wood and/or bricks...it took a while, but he ended up with a nice supply for basically free with a little labor.
