So is it safe to say the SB Liverpool community will lose a few members to the banhammer?

Well, I am resigned to the fact that one day Suarez will leave. I just don't think it will be for another couple years. For me, when that day comes, it won't be a meltdown for me. It will be depression. And possibly a break from this site. Not out of anger, but out of sadness and heartbreak.

I agree that there is no way we would let him go for at least the next couple of years, even with bids like this coming in. If we get enough for him when we do sell though I'll be fine with it. I love the guy, but if we can better the club by letting go of him then we're just playing the game.
For real though frick Man City, do you really need another striker?

40m + Super mario?, then turn around and bid on Falcao?

I've read some speculation this transfer scenario was leaked by Liverpool to gauge other club's interest in Suarez.

I would be for it if we could get either 2 strikers or a striker and winger in return.

If they are gonna do this then they gotta make city pay thru the nose. You have to make it hurt. Sometimes I think you just need to draw a line and say no. Giving up suarez in the begin of his prime only makes sense if it puts you back top three of the EPL within two years. Just one American who's never played organized soccer's thoughts.

Liverpool should decline immediately. If there's one thing Liverpool fans should appreciate as well as any others, it's how hard it is to replace world class talent. Aquilani, Joe Cole, Maxi, Poulsen, Babel, Jovanovic, Meireles, Carroll, Downing, Adam, Henderson, Spearing, etc. were all brought in to either replace a world class player or to receive the reigns once one left (Xabi, Mascherano, Torres).
There are only 2 reasons a club who cares about winning should consider an offer for one of their players:
1. Good value for a talent that contributes mildly to the success of the club.
2. The player in question hands in a transfer request.
Selling your best player to buy more players is never a good idea. If the owners are truly dedicated to winning and making it back to the Champions League, that offer will be declined with raging laughter.

No. Arsenal is not a good example because they have sold the players who have publicly come out and said they wanted to move on. Newcastle selling Carroll is a good example.

So when Everton sells Fellaini in a month or two they'll be a good example.
But yeah, I was mainly referring to the fact that we had sold our best player each year for about 5 of the last 7..

Rodgers on Suarez
Rodgers on Sterling negotiations
quote:
"Luis is not for sale, any bids
for the Uruguayan will not be
entertained. it is very clear and straight forward, we will not sell our best players"
Rodgers on Sterling negotiations
quote:
“I think it will be pretty straightforward. Raheem himself, his representatives and his family, they know he’s at the best club he can ever be at for his development in both the short and long term,” said Rodgers.
“So that will be resolved. There won’t be an issue there.”

I was going to say between 7-10. I think 10 is a pipe dream, but if we hit double digits my head would explode in happiness.

Knowing what spurs got Clint for is 7 even a pipe dream?
