Yes, today's result was horrid. After Agger was sent off, it appeared as if the whole team just kinda gave up. That's unacceptable. I'm just gonna chalk this match up to them thinking we had no chance down a man, and hopefully they learn from this.
However, they didn't play that poorly in the first half. And talking about relegation is ludicrous, and a knee jerk reaction to one game IMO.
I think BR seems like enough of a competent and intelligent manager that he can right the ship and get us going in the right direction. I'm still optimistic about the season, and being able to bring in some talent before the window closes.
chRxis - I think everyone would be more accepting to your criticisms if you decided to post something positive for once. I don't think I've seen you post anything positive about the team; it's always a "see, told ya we suck" kinda thing. I know the Gomel matches were nothing to jizz over, but at least we scored and played attractive attacking football, so we know they're capable. I'm not ready to hit the panic button just yet.

He only posts after losses. His opinions literally should not even be considered.
The panic button should not be pushed at any point in time this year unless we are in the bottom half of the table after December. We all knew this would be a project. Rodgers has only been with the squad a handful of months and he is completely changing the way they play/approach the game. An adjustment period is natural.
The freak outs are ludicrous and should have no place in anyone's mind at this point in time. The transfer market hasn't closed yet and Rodgers is still looking for some attacking players. We played well in the first 30 minutes. The match obviously completely changed with the red card and then the second PK took the life out of everyone.

He seems like the valedictorian of the Randy Savage school of trolling.
I've decided not to even dignify his idiocy with a response. ONE game and all of a sudden the world is collapsing. I guess that means the Saint's will get the first draft pick this year because we just lost to Jacksonville. Please....

Dempsey in within the next 72 hours and Carroll out by the end of the window. The writing is on the wall for both. Carroll has no place in the squad at this point in time.

Yea we had a crap start too last year and bounced back. I'm sure yall will do the same. It is only the first game of the year. But I'm fricking pissed at Agger for screwing up my fantasy team.

It will get better. It did for us last year. Here maybe this will provide some inspiration.

I just finished watching the match. My thoughts:
Allen just fits right in there, doesnt he? Our best player on the pitch yesterday.
Suarez will take a lot of heat for finishing for shite. Still, the guy is an absolute beast on the pitch and causes defenders all sorts of trouble. He is still my favorite player on the squad. I would like to try and move him right, and Borini to the middle.
Downing was terrible. But I wonder how much of that was him playing the right wing instead of the left. Regardless, his performance was abyssmal.
Gerrard played poorly as well. This after saying he hasn't lost a step. I think it's clear he's an aging wonder, and more inconsistency is to be expected from him. As much as it pains me to say its time to start thinking about life after Gerrard. Note that I said "thinking". He's still got plenty to contribute.
I can't really put too much fault on the defenders. I agree with Rodgers in that the penalties were very harsh. Agger should not have been sent off. But, this isn't anything new. I'll come short of blaming the loss on the refereeing. Even piss poor officiating can be overcome.
Going forward I believe we've got to get Dempsey in here for what he can do for us NOW. Yes, hes very nearly 30, and i wouldnt consider nim a long term solution. But for right now simply must have goals, and he gets them. I have very little confidence right now in Suarez's goal scoring ability, and Borini isnt an everyday starter. At least not at the moment.
A win this week against Hearts could turn our fortunes around. And with the City match looming ahead of us, who is to say that we definitely cannot get a positive result? As unlikely as it is, I believe we can at least hope for a draw. If not, then oh well. The season is still young, and I believe we will turn this thing around.
