quote:Santi is how he is, he cannot feign to be anything else. He is from the 'campo Asturiano', and that means being sincere, direct, and giving it your all. God, I envy Wenger. That bastard knew exactly what he was doing. This guy is going to do great things for Arsenal. Damn, just damn. He should never have left.
That interview was awesome.
Thanks for the link.
ETA When I said Santi is a leader, I meant to say he leads by example. He clearly recognizes the Arsenal hierarchy, and Mikel Arteta's position. But, as I said, he is 'serious', that is to say, 'all in' at all times, and not afraid to correct, as his goal is that of his manager. He leads by example typically. That level of dedication is infectious, and he is the typical grupal type Asturiano who is looking to pick people up and integrate them. If he gets a functional command of English, watch out. It won't be just his play that gets respect. Damn you Wenger. Ah, Arsenal needs to make sure he gets some Spanish food once in a while.

Oh look, here's Wenger being a bitch. It's spread to your entire team and fans. 'Everyone dives but us, but when we do dive it wasn't as bad as other dives.'

Sweet argument!
I watched pretty much every one of Eduardo's matches for Arsenal. He didn't have a diving rep. Pires, yes. Cesc, sure. Eboue, absolutely. I have no problem with saying something is a dive when it clearly is. Knock it off with the ridiculous generalities and baseless claims. I have no problem pointing out when our players dive. But I also don't blanket say Spurs, 'Pool or Celtic are cheating clubs just because Bale, Suarez, and McGeady had ridiculous dives while playing for those respective clubs.

You already forgot all of us calling out Jenkinson for that god awful dive a few weeks ago?

Oops, I actually thought Jenkinson just slipped because he's clumsy sometimes.
I'm a homer a-hole :(

Beast, it breaks my heart to tell you he was more or less 'kicked out' of Asturias for being too small. Everybody was cognizant of his amazing skills, but in the North we look for size, strength and speed.
The analysis of him wasn't unanimous by any means, but, you've got to take into account a very 'light' officiating, which means he could easily have been career ending injury hurt, and well, it made sense he went South.
Don't get me wrong, he was in great demand, and it was a financial transaction of great value for his club, it's not like he was a prophet in his own land, and slunk out at night before anyone knew.
I've always loved this guy. Always.
ETA Mata lasted longer, who in my opinion is more frail, before going South.

I think he did honestly slip once where the haters called him out on it, but the one on the edge of the box was a dive

Go back to the Celtic thread and troll there or maybe the Rangers one.

How about Ox yesterday? He really looked sharp for England. Hope he continues his form for club.

Every one dives, just some more than others.

Speaking of diving, and Liverpool. Something loosely related.
Argentina and England rivalry was on TV earlier.
That textbook dive for an awarded PK by Owen was a thing of douchebag beauty.
Oops, sorry, I'll take this over to the right thread.

I'm a bit sick of the diving nonsense. It has taken over the media to the point where they don't even talk about the sport anymore. Same thing with the Terry/Cole situation. People would rather write or talk about JT or AC than discuss their awesome win against Norwich last weekend.
The Suarez dive has brought out the hypocrisy of most fans. The Mancs on Reddit calling Liverpool "cheaters" had me crying in tears. Between Vidic, Rooney, Ferdinand, Giggs, Young, Welbeck, Cantona, Neville, Solksjaer, and many, many others that fanbase has zero room to talk.

I think anyone calling another team divers and saying their team is clean is full of shite. Every one has a few that have dove or dive. It's more of a "call out the individual event" for me.

Talking shite about United in the Arsenal thread.
Just can't get us off of your mind eh?

I would have talked about it in the United thread if there was a relevant discussion on diving going on.
