I was looking for the roster that we are sending to London to see if Baton Rouge native Matt Bruce made the team. What I think I read is that USA Weightlifting is only sending one competitor (not Matt btw). What are the qualifying criteria? Anyone know?

Well, we came in like 40th place at the World Qualifiers last year
I think I heard we had 1 male and 2 female weightlifters qualify.

Wasn't Logan Mankin's sister one of the female weightlifters qualifying?

Wait...we are only taking 3 total weightlifters to London? That's a clown number, bro.

Shreveport's Kendrick Farris is the only male. He qualified about 3 or so weeks ago. The Times had an article that despite his solid totals, he had to rely on the US team to perform well enough to earn him a spot. They qualified for one spot and he's the number one ranked lifter in the US. Finished 8th in Beijing. Good dude, too.

USA Weightlifting is just so sad. I can't for life of me understand how in a country of 300M + people the USA can't up a more competitive OLY lifting team.
Obviously all the elite athletes want to go to the money sports, but damn you'd think some of the college football rejects who train OLY could transition to competitive weightlifting. I guess there's also the heavy focus on powerlifting that overshadows the other discipline.
