Did we overlook them?

Is their pitching better?

Our hitting approach that bad?

I cannot assume that you have watched this team play all season.

I wonder if the servers can handle this meltdown .....if tmrw doesn't go our way, TD may cease to exist

We just need to hire a decent batting coach

we have a grad assistant level coach for a hitting coach and we slacked on recruiting for 2 years after our title

A lot of truth to both those things.

I've watched them but they normally hit enough to win. I agree w/Ben McDonald...if not for a missed foul ball, we are done.

Most of it has to do with the fact that their pitchers are really freaking good. At least the two starters, I have seen. They are not over-powering obviously but have incredible arm-side run on their sinkers and work the shin guards all day and pound the strike zone. You aren't going to score many runs against that. You have to manufacture your runs and I think Maineri is trying but it just hasn't worked out to this point. To me, the key is to grind out at bats and get into their bullpen. Our depth at that point should prevail. Make no mistake though...These guys are legit. You don't have 7 draft picks on your team unless you are damn good.

This has been the case all year. I know we always want to fire a coach but, I have to assume they are being told to take the pitches they take. When you look at a fast ball right down the middle then swing at breaking balls it doesn't make sense. If it is a good pitch you have to swing first pitch or not.

Javi is a little to blame. Lack of recruiting is also to blame.

What happened in recruiting in the two years after title?

When the players get steadily WORSE instead of better over the years, the coach is more than a little to blame.

Yea LSU hasn't hit all year. It is really obvious how bad our hitting is after seeing other teams left playing. In saying that I still think we find a way to win tomorrow.

Seriousy guys, we hire Baltimore's pitching coach and our batting coach is a year from "graduate assistant"? WTF? Didnt we learn anything from the Crowton fiasco?

Mainieri has basically admitted that he delegated too much and became to hands-off after winning in 2009. Delegated too much to Grewe and Sanchez.

I made the same analogy in the in-game thread and some guy basically called me an idiot for thinking that in spite of our success this year, we really need a new hitting coach.
